Paragliding in Mayrhofen

January 15, 2014August 29, 2016 travellovingteacher

In December 2013 we were skiing in Mayrhofen when Rob told me he had organised a birthday surprise for me. I had absolutely no idea what it could be until we skiied up to a “Stocky paragliding” sign. I’d never done it before so was very excited. We took off near the Pilz bar (at

Barcelona FC at the Nou Camp

November 1, 2013August 10, 2018 travellovingteacher

We had bought football tickets to watch Barcelona play Espanyol before we arrived in Barcelona and Rob had been really looking forward to it all week! We had paid €65 for our tickets and were about 4 rows back from the touchline, behind the goal – great seats. There were loads of ticket touts around the grounds

The Casa Batlio and the magic fountain

November 1, 2013August 10, 2018 travellovingteacher

There are so many museums to choose from in Barcelona and with all the Gaudi architecture, we felt pretty spoilt for choice on our last day. We decided to go into the Casa Batlio which is beautiful from the outside and like a really quirky house inside. Reminded me of something from Hansel and Gretel!

Getting a good view of Barcelona!

October 31, 2013August 10, 2018 travellovingteacher

Today we visited three places that all had great views of the city; Tibidabo mountain, Park Guell and Montjuic castle. We used the metro to get as close as possible to each location but some stops didn’t get us very close, so lots of walking too! Our first stop was Tibidabo mountain. We went to

Barcelona bus tour

October 30, 2013August 10, 2018 travellovingteacher

We started our second day by meeting up with Rob’s family! They were on a cruise and happened to be stopping at Barcelona for the day. We met them down by the harbour and his Grandma was so surprised! We decided the best way for them to see the city was to take the bus

Walking around Barcelona: La Rambla and la boqueria

October 29, 2013August 10, 2018 travellovingteacher

We flew to Barcelona in October half term from London Stansted and spent the first day exploring part of the city by foot. Barcelona has so much to offer and we were really glad we had planned out a bit of an itinerary before we arrived as this made sure we did most of the

Koh Phangan, Sabai beach

August 12, 2013August 28, 2016 travellovingteacher

Well our time on Koh Phangan didn’t go quite as we’d expected… after a terrible journey across from Koh Tao following a morning full of seasickness, we were pleased to reach the safe haven of Sabai beach. We spent the first day chilling and started to think maybe we had picked up some food poisoning

Food and drink recommendations, Koh Tao

August 8, 2013August 28, 2016 travellovingteacher

We experienced a few restaurants during our short stay on Koh Tao and I have to recommend a couple of places that we really enjoyed for both food and drinks: Su Chilli – great for a cheap Thai meal, incredibly quick service and so is good for if the meal needs to be quick to

Diving in Thailand, Koh Tao

August 8, 2013August 27, 2016 travellovingteacher

Koh Tao is a great place to learn to scuba dive, there is loads to see and a variety of around 25 different dive sites. I did 6 fun dives whilst Rob completed his PADI Open water and was in awe of the amazing fish and corals around the island. The logistics… We did quite

Snorkelling in Aow Leuk Bay

August 6, 2013August 28, 2016 travellovingteacher

Aow Leuk Bay is highly recommended for snorkelling and it did not disappoint! We were a bit concerned after reading about a machete-yielding man on Tripadvisor so were careful not to take ANY of our own food or drink (as this was what had appeared to upset him!) We travelled via taxi after deliberating mopeds because
